Bad Guys

The Bad Guys have invaded our home. I'm not exactly sure where they came from, how they got in, or where they stay, but our kids are convinced they are here...they are everywhere. In the closet, behind the curtain at the photography studio on Saturday, any time lights are turned out...

At first, I thought this might be a new ploy to get us to stall out bedtime. But whenever I go downstairs to handle the bad guy crys, both children are crying. And, not their fake we want attention cry, but real tears streaming down their cheeks crying. They awake in the middle of the night, crying out in fear, and when asked "what's wrong", we get the "bad guy" as the problem.

I'm not sure how to take care of these "bad guys", but it's breaking my heart to see my little ones so distraught. If anyone has suggestions, please share!

prehaps reading them stories like "go away big green monster" or "big bad bullybug" by ed emberely would help....

Also i've heard that if you put water in a spray bottle and either you or the kids spray the water wherever the "bad guys" are before they go to bed that it helps

Squirt bottles, one for each kid, filled with nothing but air, I mean: special "bad guy" "mist". Let the kids color a sticker (address label) and label the bottles. Tell them that this will keep the bad guys away. Let them keep the bottle in their bed with them.

A friend did it for her son, and it worked...I'd be willing to try anything!

I think the key here is to let them be involved in the whole process. Picking out the bottle, coloring the sticker, etc.

Good luck! Love ya!

Do you think it was Disney? Can you give them some "magic power" or a wand or some magic to defend themselves?

Sarah -

It actually might have been Disney. A few times we saw Captain Hook, and our kids would refer to them as a "Bad Guy". Randy thinks it might be the new Spiderman - the kids were telling him this weekend that the black Spiderman was a "bad guy". I have no idea where they get this - we watch fewer movies / videos than almost anyone I know.

We're going to try the water bottles soon.
